Enrollment
Enrollment is done online through our registration form — it takes about 5 minutes. Once submitted, we'll confirm your spot (or waitlist status) within 24 hours. You'll then secure your place with a $100 non-refundable registration fee per family, and we'll send over all EEC compliance forms to complete enrollment.
We serve children in Kindergarten through Grade 5 (K–5).
We offer flexible enrollment to fit your family's schedule — choose from single days, drop-in, part-time, or full-time. Contact us if you'd like to discuss a custom arrangement.
Spots fill quickly, especially for Wednesday enrollment. If we're at capacity when you register, we'll add your child to our waitlist and notify you as soon as a spot opens — processed in order of registration.
Yes, schedule changes are possible subject to availability. Please reach out to us with as much notice as possible and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Schedule & Hours
We're open Monday through Friday from end of the school day through 6:00 PM. Children arrive via WPS school bus or parent drop-off following their elementary school's dismissal.
On early release Wednesdays, students arrive after 12:00 PM dismissal for an extended afternoon that includes lunch, homework club, and enrichment. Children should pack their own lunch on these days — the afternoon snack is still provided. On select holidays, pizza lunch is offered and families are notified in advance.
Yes! We offer coverage on many school holidays from 9 AM–3 PM, and during Winter, February and April vacation weeks from 9 AM–12 PM. A full calendar of holiday coverage is shared at the start of each school year.
No problem — parents and authorized guardians may pick up any time before 6:00 PM. Just notify us if your pickup plans differ from your normal routine so we can have your child ready.
Each afternoon flows through arrival, 30–45 minutes of Homework Club with staff support, a child-chosen enrichment session (arts, sports, chess, STEM, games & more), outdoor free play when weather permits, and a daily nut-free snack. See the full schedule on our After-School Program page.
Transportation
First Parish of Westwood is an official WPS bus stop. Westwood Public Schools buses drop children at our location as a regular route stop — no separate bus arrangements needed for children who already ride the bus home.
Yes! Contact the WPS Bus Coordinator to request a walker waiver, which allows your child to ride the bus to First Parish on WEH days. The WPS transportation office can guide you through the process.
Absolutely. Parent drop-off is always welcome at First Parish of Westwood, 252 Nahatan Street. Just coordinate with your school's dismissal time and let us know if drop-off is your regular plan.
Tuition & Fees
Tuition varies by enrollment type (full-time, part-time, or drop-in). Please contact us for current pricing or visit our registration page for the full fee schedule. A $100 non-refundable per-family registration fee is required to secure your spot.
The one-time $100 per-family registration fee secures your child's spot for the school year. It is non-refundable and covers all children from the same family enrolled in the same school year.
Payment details and timing are outlined during the enrollment process. Please get in touch if you have specific billing questions — we're happy to walk you through it.
Yes — a healthy nut-free snack is included daily at no extra charge: fresh fruit and a whole grain. On early release days, children should pack their own lunch, but the afternoon snack is still provided.
Program & Activities
Each day, children choose from a rotating menu of enrichment activities including arts & crafts, sports, chess, board games, STEM exploration, creative play, outdoor free play, and special visitor sessions. Offerings rotate regularly to keep things fresh.
Yes! Every afternoon includes a structured Homework Club of 30–45 minutes with staff available for support and encouragement. Most children arrive home with their assignments already done.
We believe in giving children age-appropriate agency. During enrichment time, kids choose the activity that interests them most. We never force participation — our goal is for every child to find something they genuinely love doing each day.
We maintain ratios that meet or exceed Massachusetts EEC standards to ensure every child receives attentive, personal care. Please contact us for specific current ratios.
WEH operates out of First Parish of Westwood, 252 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA. The space includes dedicated indoor areas for homework and activities, plus outdoor space for free play.
Safety & Policies
Yes. WEH operates in full compliance with Massachusetts EEC (Early Education and Care) regulations. Families receive EEC enrollment forms as part of registration, and all staff meet EEC background check and training requirements.
WEH is a nut-free environment. Our daily snack is selected with common allergens in mind. If your child has a specific allergy or dietary need, note it on your registration form and we'll follow up to ensure a safe plan is in place.
Only individuals on your authorized pickup list (completed during enrollment) may pick up your child. Photo ID will be requested for anyone we don't recognize. Contact us in advance to add or update authorized individuals.
Please notify us as soon as possible if you'll be arriving after 6:00 PM. We'll keep your child supervised and comfortable. Late pickup fees may apply — details are in our parent handbook provided at enrollment.
Please notify us by noon on any day your child won't be attending. Children must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning. If a child becomes ill during the program, we'll contact you immediately.
